FAQ

Question: What is required for the residency application?

We only accept applications through ERAS. We offer two tracks for residency training:

Clinical Track – We accept three residents in the five-year clinical track each year.

Clinical/Physician Scientist Track – We accept two residents in the seven-year track each year, which includes five years of clinical training plus two years of protected research time during the third and fourth years of residency. The two research years are funded by an NIDCD training grant.

You may apply for one or both tracks.

Interviews for both tracks are conducted at the same time.

Question: Does your residency program accept foreign medical graduates?

Yes, but only for the Clinical residency track and we only sponsor J-1 Visas.

If accepted to our program, you must have a valid ECFMG certificate to begin.

Question: Does your program participate in ERAS and NRMP for the match?

Yes. Our residency program participates in the ERAS application and NRMP Match. Please note: The clinical and research tracks are identified by two different numbers in the NRMP Program.

Question: How many applicants are selected for a personal interview?

We conduct personal interviews with about 50 candidates each year.

Question: When will I hear whether I’ve been selected for an interview?

We comply with the recommendations of OPDO’s standardized 3-week “interview offer window.” Between October 22 and November 9, 2018, we will be contacting selected candidates with an invitation to interview.

Question: What are your Interview Dates for this year?

We will be interviewing candidates on two dates: Saturday, December 15, 2018 and Saturday, January 19, 2019

An informal Meet & Greet event, hosted by current residents in our program, is planned for Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm, the night before interview day. Enjoy a cocktail and heavy hors d’oeuvres and an opportunity to meet and talk with residents in a less formal setting. This is an optional event, but we hope your travel plans will include time to attend.
