Kaur Lab Research Interests

The goal of our lab is to establish a deep understanding of the nature and function of neuron-immune interactions along the auditory pathway during development and disease and to understand the contributions of the immune system to neurodegeneration, protection and regeneration in deafened ears. I am currently investigating the influence of macrophages (innate-immune cells) on neuronal, axonal and synaptic pathology in animal models of human sensorineural hearing loss. In parallel, I am studying to understand the role of cochlear resident macrophages during development, maturation and homeostasis.
