ENT Pedal the Cause team raises over $30K

Cheers to our Pedal the Cause team Heads Up for raising over $30,000 to fund cancer research – so far!

The Department of Otolaryngology’s team Heads Up has raised $350,000 since the first Pedal the Cause event in 2011. This year’s 53-member team included faculty, medical students, staff, cancer survivors, supporters and kids!

Team members biked anywhere from one mile (kids) to 100 miles in a day (during the event or virtually), participated in the spinning event, or volunteered.

The team ranks #6 in fundraising among all hospital-affiliated teams – so far. Donations are being accepted through Oct. 31.

“A big thank you to all of the team donors, volunteers and riders,” said Liz Buchman, who co-captained the team with Don Conine, who, along with his son, is a cancer survivor. “Your commitment to Pedal the Cause is getting us closer to a world without cancer.”

Looking to next year, Buchman hopes that even more department members and their families can participate, if not as cyclists, than as volunteers.

“It is a totally positive joyful experience and another way to live the mission of improving patients’ lives,” she says.
