Washington University Billing/Scheduling Associate Lori Alexander reflects on her 18 years at the university and shares how she spends quality time with family.
What is your current title, and how long have you been with Oto and WashU?
I am currently a Billing/Scheduling Associate II. I have worked with ENT for one year and five months but have been with Washington University for over 18 years. Before I came to the ENT department, I worked in the Department of Neurology. My title was EMG Tech II. I performed nerve conduction studies on patients that had nerve damage or were seeking a diagnosis of different nerve conditions such as ALS or neuropathy.
What do you like most about your work here?
I love helping patients get in with our amazing physicians to get the best care possible.
How would you describe life in the Alexander household?
Life in the Alexander household can be crazy at times. I have been married to my husband, who is a St. Louis City Firefighter for 23 years, and we have an 8-year-old son, Liam. I also have two dogs named Lucy and Bella. Lucy is 1 year old, and Bella is 12 years old.
Do you have a favorite activity or pastime?
I love spending time with my son Liam and husband Tony creating new memories. We enjoy fires around our fire pit and going to different restaurants to try different cuisines. We also love a good movie night and just spending time together. Liam also loves going on shopping trips with me as well.
Is there a special something at the top of your bucket list, and why?
Going to Ireland is at the top of my bucket list as I love to travel. I have lived in five different states, and I also lived in Germany while my dad served in the Air Force. I love seeing different cultures, learning about other countries, and exploring new areas.
