CLINICAL TRACK

Sam Cler, MD
Washington University School of Medicine

“My wife and I are both attending medical school at WashU, so St. Louis has become our home. My rotations on the ENT service showed me that this department really embodied the “family” feel that I was looking for in a residency program. Everyone was so invested in teaching; there were endless opportunities to get involved with research; and the culture was second to none. On Match Day, my phone was buzzing all day with calls, texts, and emails from residents and faculty welcoming me to the department, which only reaffirmed the fantastic culture that we have here at WashU. My wife and I are both so excited for what these years will hold, and we can’t wait to get started with this next incredible phase of life!”

Holly Sprow, MD
Tufts University School of Medicine

“I am ecstatic to be returning to Washington University in St. Louis to complete my training in otolaryngology! The department boasts excellent surgical training with complex, high-volume cases as well as outstanding research opportunities. The faculty and residents are a wonderful group of people, and I am very excited to work with this incredible team!”

Ruben Ulloa, MD

“I am thrilled to have matched at Washington University in St. Louis, where I will begin my career as an otolaryngologist. I am excited to join a high-performing team of talented residents and physicians dedicated to delivering exceptional care to the St. Louis community and beyond. I look forward to being part of an innovative and collaborative institution that perfectly blends rigorous research and surgical training. I can’t wait to join the team and start creating our own traditions!”

RESEARCH TRACK

James Bao, MD
University of Miami Leonard & M. Miller School of Medicine

“I am thrilled to be joining the WashU otolaryngology family! It was a dream come true for my wife and I to match here. I have had incredible experiences with the faculty and residents, and I am honored to be at an institution with such strong clinical training and research opportunities. I am so excited to get started soon!”

Chad Nieri, MD
University of Tennessee Health Science Ctr College of Medicine

“I am ecstatic and grateful to be joining the WashU Otolaryngology family! Given my previous match experience and now as a re-applicant having completing a clinical research fellowship at a southern medical school, I never anticipated matching at my top program. During my second look, I fell in love with the residents, attendings, and faculty and felt that intangible “fit” into a residency program that virtual interviews sometimes struggle to capture. It is an honor to be able to train in a program that provides excellent surgical and clinical training, as well as limitless research opportunities in a collaborative and supportive environment. I am thrilled to be a part of the residency family and to contribute to the culture of producing world-class surgeons and physician-scientists in such a welcoming environment. Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity – my wife and I are extremely excited to relocate to St. Louis!”
